About this tool
Short or predictable passwords are easy to guess. This generator builds long, truly random passwords using your browser's secure random number generator, then tells you roughly how hard they would be to crack.
The password is created on your device. It is never stored and never sent anywhere, and it disappears when you close the page. Save it in a password manager, not in a note on your phone.
- Cryptographically secure randomness
- Length from 4 to 64 characters, plus PIN mode
- Strength meter
- Never stored or sent anywhere
Frequently asked questions
How long should my password be?
At least 12 characters for everyday accounts, and 16 or more for email, banking and anything important. Length matters more than special characters.
Is this password generator safe to use?
Yes. Passwords are created in your browser using the same secure random source browsers use for encryption. Nothing is sent to us or stored.
Should I use the same password on several sites?
No. If one site is breached, every account sharing that password is at risk. Use a unique password per site and keep them in a password manager.
What does "avoid look-alike characters" do?
It removes characters that are easy to confuse, such as O and 0 or l and 1, which helps when you must type the password by hand.
