    Frequently asked questions

How do I resize an image without stretching it?

Leave "Keep aspect ratio" switched on. Change the width and the height follows automatically, so the picture keeps its proportions.

What size is a passport photo?

A common size is 35 x 45 mm. At 300 DPI that is 413 x 531 pixels, which is the passport preset in this tool. Always check the exact rules of the office you are applying to.

Can I make a picture bigger?

Yes, but enlarging cannot add detail that was never there, so a heavily enlarged photo will look soft.

What does "crop to fill" do?

It scales the picture until it covers your exact size, then trims the extra from the edges, keeping the centre. Use it when you need an exact shape such as a square profile picture.
