About this tool
Large photos slow down websites, fill up inboxes and get rejected by upload forms that only accept small files. This image compressor reduces the file size of JPG, PNG and WebP pictures while keeping them looking sharp.
You can drag the quality slider yourself, or type a target such as 100 KB and let the tool find the best quality that fits. Because everything happens inside your browser, your photos are never uploaded to a server.
- JPG, PNG and WebP supported
- Set a target size such as 50 KB or 100 KB
- Compress many photos at once
- Nothing is uploaded: 100% private
Frequently asked questions
Will compressing make my image blurry?
A little compression is invisible to the eye. The default setting is chosen to cut the size a lot while keeping the picture crisp. If you push the quality very low you will start to see blockiness, so use the before and after preview to judge.
How do I compress an image to under 100 KB?
Enter 100 in the "Maximum size" box. The tool tries different quality levels and keeps the best one that fits. Very large photos may also need to be resized first with the Image Resizer.
Are my photos uploaded anywhere?
No. The compression runs entirely in your browser on your own device. Your images are never sent to our servers.
Why did my PNG barely shrink?
PNG is a lossless format, so photos stay large. This tool reduces the number of colours to shrink PNGs. For the biggest saving on photographs, convert them to JPG or WebP.
